Statistically women have a longer life expectancy than men but they suffer from more chronic health conditions. Women are also more likely to have health issues from autoimmune diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis than men. Pregnancy poses health complications including volatility in hormone levels, weight gains, gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. In later life, women suffer from menopause related health issues including hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and insomnia. Even diseases like heart disease and diabetes manifest differently for women than men.

Historically, women’s health research has not been funded adequately, causing gaps in awareness and treatment options for health issues that primarily affect women.

What do female health tests measure?

Female health tests focus on assessing hormones and factors significant to the physical and emotional well-being of women, and facilitates diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting women. Tests performed to support female health can provide information affecting various health areas including gynecological, reproductive, sexual, hormonal, stress, heart, and bone health.

A variety of female health tests are available through Rupa Health with some examples such as the following:

In addition to the female health tests, a medical history and physical examination, complete laboratory blood count and chemistry panel can be helpful. Depending on the outcome of the testing, additional types of tests such as bone density testing, or a mental health assessment can be useful. Mental health often factors into other health conditions such as menopausal changes, infertility issues, pregnancy.

Treatment Plans

Some common treatment plans can include:

  • Improving nutrition and exercise
  • Supplements to provide missing nutrients
  • Addressing emotional and social health
