About the Test

The N-Terminal Pro B-Type Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP) test measures the level of NT-proBNP, a peptide released by the heart in response to increased pressure and volume. This test is primarily used to diagnose and manage heart failure, as elevated NT-proBNP levels are indicative of heart stress and dysfunction.
