The Myeloperoxidase (MPO) test measures the level of MPO, an enzyme produced by white blood cells. MPO plays a role in the immune response by producing reactive oxygen species to combat pathogens. Elevated MPO levels are associated with inflammation and are used to assess the risk of cardiovascular diseases and inflammatory conditions.
