If Your Levels Are High
A high Omega-6/Omega-3 ratio might mean that your diet has too much Omega-6 and not enough Omega-3. This can happen if you eat a lot of processed foods, vegetable oils, and meats, which have lots of Omega-6, and not enough fish and flaxseeds, which are rich in Omega-3. Some medications, like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), could also affect this balance. Some medications, like those that affect how your body absorbs fats, could also play a role in this imbalance. Additionally, certain health conditions, such as malabsorption disorders, might make it harder for your body to take in these important fats from the food you eat.
