Lyme IgG Band 45

What's
Lyme IgG Band 45
?
Lyme IgG Band 45 is a specific indicator used to test for Lyme disease, an infection spread through the bite of infected black-legged ticks. This marker is part of your body's defense system, particularly the creation of IgG antibodies, which your body makes to combat the bacteria causing Lyme disease. The '45' refers to the unique molecular weight of this particular protein targeted by your immune system. It acts like a fingerprint, helping to detect the presence of Lyme disease in your body.
If Your Levels Are High
Elevated levels of Lyme IgG Band 45 might mean that your body is working hard to fight off an infection, possibly related to Lyme disease. This happens because your immune system creates these specific IgG antibodies to battle the bacteria that cause Lyme disease. Things like certain medications or a recent tick bite could also play a role in raising these levels. Additionally, it's possible that a past infection is causing your immune system to keep higher levels of these antibodies, which is a normal response that helps your body quickly recognize and fight the bacteria if you come across it again in the future.
Symptoms of High Levels
Symptoms of high levels of Lyme IgG Band 45 may not be directly noticeable, as this is a marker of immune response rather than a cause of symptoms itself. However, if it's related to an active Lyme disease infection, you might experience symptoms such as fatigue, fever, headache, muscle and joint aches, and swollen lymph nodes.
If Your Levels are Low
A low level of Lyme IgG Band 45 might mean that your body hasn't come into contact with the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, or it's not actively fighting it. This could be because you haven't been exposed to the bacteria, or maybe your immune system isn't responding as it should. Factors like having a weak immune system, taking antibiotics recently, or not having previous exposure to the bacteria could play a role in these lower levels. It's also possible that your body has already fought off the infection, and the antibody levels have gone down as a result.
Symptoms of Low Levels
Symptoms of low levels of Lyme IgG Band 45 are typically non-existent, as this test is more about detecting the presence of an immune response rather than causing specific symptoms.
