Immunoglobulin G3

What's
IgG3
?
Immunoglobulin G3 (IgG3) is a type of protein produced by your body's immune system. It's one of the four subclasses of Immunoglobulin G (IgG), which is the most abundant type of antibody in your bloodstream. IgG3 acts like a security guard, helping to protect your body from harmful invaders such as bacteria and viruses. It does this by identifying and binding to these foreign substances, marking them for destruction by other parts of your immune system. IgG3 plays a crucial role in keeping you healthy by helping your body to effectively fight off infections.
If Your Levels Are High
High levels of Immunoglobulin G3 (IgG3) in your blood could suggest that your body is actively fighting off an infection or disease. This is because IgG3 is a type of protein that your immune system produces to combat harmful invaders, like bacteria or viruses. When these invaders enter your body, your immune system responds by producing more IgG3 to neutralize them. Therefore, elevated IgG3 levels could indicate an ongoing battle against an infection. Alternatively, high IgG3 levels could also be a sign of an immune system disorder, such as an autoimmune disease where your immune system mistakenly attacks your own cells. Certain medications, like immunosuppressants or biologics, can also affect IgG3 levels. However, it's important to note that these interpretations are not definitive and other factors need to be considered for a complete picture of your health.
Symptoms of High Levels
Symptoms of high levels of IgG3 could include fatigue, fever, joint pain, or other signs of inflammation or infection. However, it's also possible to have elevated IgG3 levels without experiencing any noticeable symptoms.
If Your Levels are Low
Low levels of Immunoglobulin G3 (IgG3) could suggest that your body isn't producing enough of this important immune system protein, which might mean it's having trouble fighting off infections. This could be due to a variety of reasons. For instance, you might have an immune deficiency disorder, such as Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) or Selective IgG Subclass Deficiency, which can affect your body's ability to produce IgG3. Certain medications, like immunosuppressants or chemotherapy drugs, can also lower your IgG3 levels. Additionally, chronic stress or malnutrition can negatively impact your immune system and result in decreased IgG3 production. It's important to note that low IgG3 levels are just one piece of the puzzle and should be considered in the context of other lab results and clinical findings.
Symptoms of Low Levels
Symptoms of low levels of Immunoglobulin G3 could include frequent infections, such as sinus or lung infections, fatigue, and unexplained weight loss. However, some people with low IgG3 levels may not experience any noticeable symptoms.
